Ci are things that time and adversity cannot touch. They can bend, even fall, but then, in spite of the laws of physics, they get up and return to affirm their will to live and exist.
To see some of these wonders at work it was enough to be at TAV Racconigi (CN), from 19 to 21 June, on the occasion of the Italian Paralympic shooting championship. Same targets, same platforms, same rifles, but difficulties increased one hundredfold, due to those handicaps that force some shooters to hold and shoot using only one limb, or to secure with safety bands the wheelchairs on which, when seated, they complete their series of trial.
In Racconigi, the strong heart of skeet shooting has taken to the platform these days, that steel that many able-bodied shooters lack, as opposed to the fragility, almost like crystal, of their bodies. Twenty-eight athletes registered for the championship, divided into three functional classifications (one seated and two standing), each with a story to tell and with much more to give and to prove.
To welcome us in Racconigi we find the landlord, Pier Franco Allasia, 69, of which 50 spent on the shooting ranges. For 21 years, President of the TAV Racconigi, which started at the beginning with a single field immersed in the corn plantations in the Langhe, today presents us a four-field system which, in March 2015, completed an embankment 240 meters long, 7,5 meters high. mt. with a base 22 meters wide, in other words, 1700 trucks of earth, a hill from which to project towards the future of skeet shooting.
