The choice of the junta
Piedmontese breeders will be able to count on compensation from the Piedmont Region again this year for the damages suffered due to depredations by large carnivores, such as wolves. On July 12, the Regional Council, on the proposal of the Councilor for Agriculture and Food Marco Protopapa, approved the allocation of 270 thousand euros for the forthcoming opening of the regional tender for rural development in support of farmers for the compensation of damages caused by wolves in particular, both for killed animals and for injured and missing animals.
New rural development
“Aid continues to support our farmers whose herds and flocks, especially those grazing, are attacked by wolves with consequent losses due to the killing and wounding of the animals or their dispersion. In addition to these compensations, farmers can access the regional tender of the new rural development 2023-2027 for the request for contributions for the adoption of livestock defense systems, such as the installation of fences and the presence of guardian dogs ", he declares the regional councilor Marco Protopapa.
financial endowment
In fact, it should be remembered that the regional tender for the new rural development 2023-2027 relating to the SRA17 intervention was opened in April with a financial allocation of 1 million and 350 thousand euros, in support of farmers for prevention measures in the areas grazing in defense of livestock to avoid attacks by wildlife, such as wolves. Until 25 July, late applications for contributions can be submitted (source: Piedmont region).
