Hunting: ANLC Umbria on the declarations of Leandro Raggiotti, wildlife operator of the Province of Perugia, “Syndrome of the Eternal Father…”.
I was struck and indignant by the statements made by this Leandro Raggiotti, Wildlife Operator of the Province of Perugia, as well as holder of a hunting license, during an interview published by "Perugia Free Press". The Operator verbatim declares “personally I am in favor of the elimination of all forms of hunting migratory game, except for woodcock”… and on the article stands his photo as he caresses his trusty dog and shows his inseparable shotgun.
The Operator then continues "the hunt for sedentary game is sustainable because it is managed on the principle of ungulate selection (?), While instead we cannot continue to embody 100 Thrushes each morning, without knowing if those will actually be the last in history" ... and one wonders where the Operator sees so much abundance of Bottacci and Sasselli in Umbria every morning.
But that's not all and this time the Operator shoots at zero elevation "the hunt for the wood pigeon involves the death of 2-3 birds of prey per site each year and therefore, due to the grave fault of the hunters who practice it, it must be eliminated" ... and one wonders if the managers of the Province of Perugia have read the article and if they have not yet done so, I undertake from tomorrow to deliver it personally.
The Operator, now without brakes, continues "in Umbria there are about 6.000 stalks between fixed and temporary and annually an average of 15.000 Raptors are illegally killed", and then postulate again "by counting down 200 small birds killed in a shed, we reach the unbearable crazy figure of 1.200.000 heads, not to mention that for each bird killed there are at least two others that go to die far from the place of injury "... and here my patience runs out, so much so that I ask for an appropriate and swift disciplinary intervention by the 'Administration that guarantees his salary, reserving other possible actions in the appropriate places.
The Operator underlines that "an adequate and scientific preparation of the hunter is needed with a course lasting a few years starting from adolescence" and ends with a gem for the Province for which we do not know what irreplaceable positions "the Province of Perugia has missed its objective, the exams for the hunting qualification are currently a PENOSA FARSA ".
Now, not allowing myself in the least to doubt the mental faculties of the Faunal Operator, who is free to express his opinions and to take full responsibility for them, I do not accept that this "individual" muddies the category with arrogance, contempt and intolerance. which it claims to belong to, accusing it of illegally exterminating in Umbria (according to its enlightened calculations) 3.615.000 specimens of protected avifauna.
Please provide us with diligence documented evidence of what you said under the effect of the "Eternal Father Syndrome" or publicly apologize to the Umbrian hunters, as long as you do not have to do so in a courtroom. From the Provincial Administration of Perugia we expect at least an official stance through the press, which isolates attempts to undermine the hunting world from such shameful attacks from within.
