Certainty and consideration
Yes, something is finally changing in the attitude of politics, at least of the political forces currently in government of the country, towards hunting and Italian hunters mistreated for too many years. Thanks to this new attitude, important positive signals have arrived which, contrary to what those who are anti-hunting biasedly claim, are not unjustified favors to the hunting lobby, but acts of justice for all citizens, including hunters, who boast rights of certainty, consideration and protection in the exercise of lawful and regulated activities such as, in this case, hunting. It is therefore right to appreciate this moment and thank all those who made it possible to achieve these first important results. But we must not fall into the temptation of claiming primogeniture or particular roles played by this or that other Association. All the Associations have played their role, even in the past when, unfortunately, the few truly useful results have always been rare examples of institutional attention.
National control room
We must courageously and consistently recognize that these new results do not arrive because there were some particularly good or inspired Associations, but rather because the current political decision-makers have understood the reality of an unjust and unsustainable situation, even legally. In my opinion, if there is merit, it is that of having used as best as possible a unitary coordination instrument, that is, the national Control Room, which has been able to summarize and best present the requests of the entire hunting world, not only regarding calendars, appeals to the TAR or on the lead problem, but also on many other important issues by presenting very timely technical-legal dossiers created with everyone's contribution. We still have a lot of work to do to recover the rights and opportunities that have been denied to us. Hunters know this very well and it is useless as well as offensive to think of tricking them. I am a hunter and I would like to see many more positive signs for my passion.
Dialogue with politics
The steps forward must be for hunting and for Italian hunters. If there are some, consequently there will be some for the individual Associations which, I repeat an old thought of mine, are not the end but must be a means to reach the only true end, that is, not letting hunting and its wonderful traditions die. It would be stupid to divide ourselves further precisely now when maximum cohesion is needed to continue to dialogue in a proactive and intelligent way with a Politics which, finally, has shown that it also knows how to listen and translate into practice the correct and sustainable indications that come to it in the 'interest not only of hunting and Italian hunters, but also of the economy, the environment and society as a whole. Thanks, therefore, to all those who contributed to the achievement of the first important objectives for Italian hunting, with the hope that many others will soon follow, already well identified and brought to their attention by the national control room (The President of the ANUU Marco Castellani).
