The cases of avian flu registered this summer have been numerous, so much so that the Ministry of Health decided to keep the ban on the use of live calls belonging to the orders of the Anseriforms and Caradriiforms. Despite some difficulties of interpretation, the circular has begun to produce its effects, but theFedercaccia Bird Migration Office andACMA (Association of Aquatic Migrant Hunters) they consider the ban excessive.
In particular, it has been extended to the whole national territory without any reason, moreover it is now understood that the virus was transmitted when the calls were not used, as well as hunting closed. France also registered many cases, but the derogation has long since been reinstated. For the Office and the association, the transmission was caused by the poor application of the biosecurity measures in intensive farming.
Among other things, there are very large regions and areas that are excluded from risk, but in these areas the aquatic hunter is penalized anyway. The Italian derogation could be accompanied by monitoring on wild birds which has already been put in place, as requested by the EU. The two associations then sent a letter to Ministry of Health, asking for an urgent meeting at the Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie.
