Hunting Dogs: Training a pack of dogs for wild boar hunting requires passion and patience and for four-legged friends, more than training, it must be satisfying game encounters: after all, this is hunting, a beautiful moment of meeting. between the dogs and the handler who engage in a thousand-year-old challenge.
It fascinates millions of hunters who abandon their work, home and even their family for a few days to dedicate themselves to it: after all, wild boar hunting is still wild boar hunting and when the group is there, it would be a crime to say no. Of course, the hunting expedition is only the final phase of a process lasting years: perhaps the layman ignores it, but a fundamental component of this kind of hunting activity is the active participation of the four-legged friends, gathered in pack, which with the help of the conductor will be able to track down and hunt down the most feared wild of the Italian woods, the wild boar.
This is why moult training on wild boar is so important and like many other forms of training it requires passion and patience. This does not mean that the fundamental elements that form the basis of training are as simple as they are underestimated.
To begin with, it is important that the handler has a confidential relationship with the dog and lives with it. It is the daily relationship that makes the difference, and the love that the owner offers to his four-legged friend is reciprocated with obedience and the desire to please him. A beloved dog is naturally a dog in both physical and mental health: he loves the handler, he loves nature but above all he loves hunting that lives like a game. This is exactly how the training has to take place: in the form of a game so that when the dog is on the hunting field, what he will be asked for is simply to have fun. Another important element is the choice of the breed: there are those who are of the opinion that there are some better than others, but in truth it is personal taste that will have to influence the purchase. The advice to be given is simple: before launching into the purchase, study well the breed for which you want to opt in order to know, without surprises, all its characteristics. Only at that point will you be able to consciously buy your own dogs that it is always good that they are not "made" as we usually say. In fact, it is important that the training is given by the conductor: only in this way will it be possible to obtain great results during the joke. For this reason, the advice is to buy dogs that have not exceeded seventy days: not only will you be able to take care of their training but also of their nutrition. Exactly as it happens for the "puppies of man" the feeding of the first nine months of life is fundamental for the future body formation, and only the owner will be able to have all the necessary attention for the growth of five-star followers.
Develop a sense of moult
One of the precautions that the hunter - trainer must necessarily take is that of group training. It makes very little sense to train each dog individually, as a certain school proposes: the result will be that of having dogs that are very well prepared but do not know each other; to put it easily, during the months of training they did not develop the sense of change, the concept of the group. The dogs trained in groups know their companions perfectly, they know when to follow and when to help a "colleague" thanks to the awareness they have of the other that could not have been formed during single training. In short, a collective training is used to make a group. Just as the companions of a football team train together, so the dogs that are part of a pack have to share joys and sorrows.
Rabbit training
The ideal to start training is the rabbit. The initially free wild (usually 2 or 3 are used) will awaken the instinct to bark; only afterwards the rabbit will be locked in the cage and the handler will take care of simulating a pass, which must be followed by the puppies. Let us remember that they must be trained in a group: the reaction of the pack will first be that of curiosity and perplexity. They will likely have high ears, and possibly straight fur once they find the cage. The first sensation of almost fear will be replaced by that of domination, with the consequent sound warning stimulated by the handler: this is the first steady bark of each individual dog making up the pack. The encounters with the rabbit should not be more than three: the pack must train soon on another subject: the pigskin.
Training on pigskin
This is the second phase of the training of the suit. The skin and head of the boar they must be hidden in the bushes at a distance of about 50 meters from the pack, taking care to leave a good trace (which must not be trampled on later). At this point all that remains is to free the puppies and help them along the track. If they do not immediately find the boar skin hidden in the bushes, it is good for the handler to help them and for an assistant to move the skin and the boar head: and at this point the reaction will be very similar to what has been observed in contact with the rabbit. It is important, if any puppy tries, to prevent the skin from being bitten: the dog in question will be scolded. It is essential to teach the pack that a live boar must never be attacked, it could affect the life of every single dog. You can instead allow the approach, after a blank shot, complete with a lick of the "prey" when this is now immobile. In any case, the dog that proves too aggressive must undoubtedly be reprimanded. Once this phase of the training is completed, the skin is removed, it is hidden from the eyes of the dogs who will be rewarded with some cuddles for the good work. Also this exercise should not be repeated too frequently: soon you will have to go out onto the field.
