Hunting: from Veneto traced the way for a rebirth of hunting, from the work table in Legnaro, stimuli and perspectives for a renewed commitment of hunting associations and all practitioners.
New responsibilities and a new identity for hunting and hunters, but also a new relationship with all Italians and the recognition of a key role in protecting the environment, the common good of the whole society. From the work table in Legnaro, stimuli and perspectives for a renewed commitment of hunting associations and all practitioners. Potential and critical issues, but also opportunities and recognition of the central role of hunting for the correct management of the public good, the environmental landscape heritage and the safeguarding of agricultural enterprises. This emerged once again from a serious, concrete debate, free from populism and the search for easy consensus. A comparison between the different actors and components of the society strongly desired and jointly organized by the Italian Federation of Hunting, ANUUMigratoristi and Arci Caccia, which animated the congress hall of the Benedictine Court of Legnaro (PD) made available by Veneto last Friday, November 29 Agriculture, of which Dr. Mezzalira greeted by welcoming the attendees.
Starting from the theme of biodiversity in its various facets and implications, an intense and participatory work session unfolded, where the scientific, institutional, agricultural and hunting world highlighted a picture that has clearly highlighted what a small but irreplaceable resource is hunting to build and maintain a healthy and balanced environment, capable of also being an economic driver, job opportunities and offering a better quality of life for all citizens.
Moderated by the president of Arcicaccia Veneto Giuliano Ezzelini Storti, a series of interventions of great depth followed one another, which developed along a path that started from a lucid analysis of the current regulatory framework and from this to the hypothetical new structure that will arise from the modification of the organization of the Provinces (Avv. Franco Livera), to continue with the situation of the Provinces of Trento and Bolzano which has for some time already seen the environmental management delegations of the territory entrusted to the South Tyrol Hunters Association, and to the Association Cacciatori Trentini (Heinrich Aukenthaler and Umberto Zamboni, directors of the two associations); the consequences of a failure to manage a territory, in particular that of the Cansiglio Forest (Michele Bottazzo of Veneto Agricoltura) and through the damage caused by the imbalance of wildlife to the agricultural enterprise (Stefano Masini, environment and territory area manager of Coldiretti ) and from an example of how this problem is tackled by the public administration of Emilia Romagna (Maria Luisa Bargossi, Head of the Rural Territory Service of the Region), has come to outline the central role for maintaining a high level of biodiversity - of which our country is at the very first if not in first place in Europe -, of a correct exercise of hunting and the use of adequately trained personnel coming from the ranks of hunters for control and containment operations, which are something very different from hunting, illustrated by Professor Baldaccini of the University of Pisa and by Giampiero Sammuri, president of Federparchi .
At the end of the technical interventions, the phase of the political ones opened. Unanimous recognition of the importance of well-regulated and scientifically supported hunting and of hunters fully aware of their role in environmental dynamics. Senator Andrea Marcucci declared that he was following with interest “the evolution of the situation regarding the relationship, and the many problems it poses, between the management of wildlife resources, the protection of species and agricultural activities. Many representatives and bearers of different interests, in some cases conflicting, but which in any case must all be traced back to the protection of that common good which is the enhancement of wildlife resources ".
“Hunting is one of the ways of keeping alive and protecting our territory and our landscape and agricultural peculiarities, with repercussions in fundamental sectors for our economy - said the honorable Alessandra Moretti -. It is not to gather easy consensus, but because it corresponds to the truth, that I bring you a message of great availability because I guarantee you that at all institutional levels there are people willing to listen ”.
A tangible sign of attention also came from Europe through the presence of MEP Giancarlo Scottà, member of the Hunting Intergroup in the European Parliament. “Hunting and conservation - Scottà began - are two terms that according to most people could not coexist, but which in reality are the key to correct wildlife management. Compatible hunting has now entered the common lexicon of European management planning and biodiversity policies should be integrated into the sectoral policies of each Member State. Without the thousands of hunters who practice their hunting activity every year in full compliance with current legislation - the MEP underlined - thousands and thousands of hectares of countryside and woods would not receive the care that every passionate hunter usually does ".
The councilor for hunting of Veneto Daniele Stival applauded the unity of the hunting world. “The fact that three associations have come together to deal with topics of this magnitude is already a success for me and a sign of maturity in the hunting world,” he said. And he turned to the hunting world to ask for an ever greater and more qualified contribution of those scientific data which, alone, he is able to provide in a broad, articulated and widespread way. Stopping the consumption of the soil and reconnecting relations with agricultural entrepreneurs and further developing the presence of hunters in the area by upgrading it, were the indications that the president Anuu Marco Castellani and Arci Caccia Osvaldo Veneziano highlighted in their brief interventions. The Venetian president specifically underlined the importance of social management which has given positive results in some regions such as Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and others, and on which it is necessary to reflect in order to enhance the relationship in particular between agricultural entrepreneurs and hunters in perspective. to qualify the delegation entrusted to their management by the Atc.
The conclusions to the president of Federcaccia Gian Luca Dall'Olio. “Today a serious and articulated debate has begun which we intend to continue - he said -. We have highlighted that within us there are experiences, knowledge and useful skills, which constitute an important heritage, to be disseminated, communicated and put at the service of society as a whole. But to do it properly we have to use one voice. Only by uniting the hunting world, going beyond the three associations that organized this work table, can we recover our ability to be heard. The more we are united, the more strength our voice will have.
But we must also find and take on new and higher professional skills and take on responsibilities and interests that go beyond the legitimate one of the withdrawal. With unity, we must bring about a new rebirth of our identity and image of hunting, also raising our capacity for confrontation. In this way we will be able to aspire to ensure that the subsidiarity which today is recognized to hunters and to the unitary organization that represents them in the various European countries and which we see well represented in Italy in the Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, becomes common heritage and not only wealth. for those who practice it, but for the whole of society. And in this way to increase the value of the environment and its use by all citizens, raising the general quality of life and the economy of our country even for those who invest and earn their livelihood in the area ".
A clear message has been launched and a path has therefore been traced, and Federcaccia, ANUUMigratoristi and Arci Caccia intend to follow it, with the hope that other travel companions will join as soon as possible on this path, to give a new future and a new face to hunting and hunters of our country.
