The decision of the judges
Positive news for hunters in Sardinia: the Regional Administrative Court (First Section) rejected the appeal presented by Earth, the Association for the Protection of the Environment and Animal Rights against part of the hunting calendar relating to the 2023-2024 season. This involves the harvesting of jays and hooded crows.
No 2 week advance notice
According to Earth, it was necessary to bring forward the closing date of these two samplings, the deadline for which was set by the Region for 31 January 2024. The animal-environmentalists' claim was to close the hunting of the species two weeks earlier, therefore at date of January 17th. Why did the TAR judges say no to the request?
The motivations
The two dates granted in pre-opening within the maximum time established by law are justified with adequate justification and in accordance with the positive opinion provided by ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research). At least for these two birds we can breathe a sigh of relief.
