Hunting: Sicily, the Administrative Justice Council welcomes the appeal of the environmentalists and orders the Region to issue the Regional Wildlife Hunting Plan.
With the order n.21 of 10 January 2013, the Administrative Council of Justice accepted the appeal presented on 28 November 2012 by Legambiente, the Mediterranean Association for Nature and LAC and ordered the Region of Sicily to take action within 60 days the issuance of the Regional Wildlife Hunting Plan 2011/2016, consequently preparing a Hunting Calendar compliant with the same Plan.
With the same sentence, the CGA also confirmed the previous ordinance of the Sicily TAR of last September 2012 with which the 2012/2013 Hunting Calendar of the former Councilor Aiello was suspended, noting that the application of the current hunting regulations derives a prejudice to the environment and fauna.
Obvious satisfaction of Legambiente Sicilia for the sentence of the Administrative Council of Justice regarding hunting and protection of fauna in Sicily; on the matter, the regional manager of Nature Conservation of Legambiente Sicilia, Angelo Dimarca, stated, "We are extremely satisfied also because the authoritative and unappealable decision of the Administrative Justice Council constitutes the definitive censure against the Region which for years has avoided fully implementing to the legislation on the protection of fauna and regulation of hunting ".
Continuing Dimarca added, “We are also satisfied because the action of the previous Regional Councilor Francesco Aiello who had embraced the positions of the most extremist, albeit minority, part of the hunting world has been definitively rejected across the board”.
Legambiente's expectations foresee a radical and decisive turnaround by the new Councilor for Agricultural Resources, Dario Cartabellotta, starting with an immediate execution of the order of the Administrative Judges with the issuance of an appropriate Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan.
