Hunting in Veneto: the Hon. Sergio Berlato in his own press release replies and criticizes the statements of the regional councilor Daniele Stival.
The coherence of the Northern League councilor Stival is truly singular who, in demagogically affirming "PRIMA IL VENETO", organizes a meeting in Venice inviting all the national associations, deliberately excluding the Associazione Cacciatori Veneti which is the first Venetian association for proactive capacity and only the second, for the moment, for the number of members at the regional level. Truly ridiculous was the attempt by the Regional Councilor Stival to pass off a letter from the Prime Minister's Office distributed during the meeting in Venice on 10 January 2013 as a scoop, while in reality this letter dated 20 July 2012 was already known the week following its issue. .
Stival tries to pass off that letter as a reason that prevented the region from applying the hunts in derogation in Veneto for the hunting season that is ruinously ending, while in reality in that letter it is not said that the derogations cannot be applied in Veneto but it is stated that, if the exceptions are not applied in compliance with the Community Directives, Italy will be subjected to an infringement procedure with the possibility, in the event of Italy's conviction, of also imposing fines. Any traffic policeman warns motorists that, if they exceed the speed limits, they could incur financial penalties. This does not mean that this fair warning can be passed off as a driving ban on all cars.
Reiterating that Italy has never paid a single euro of fine due to hunting or hunters in the Veneto region, it is useful to remember that Italy is still subject to 99 infringement procedures by the European Union. for measures taken by certain politicians who, in adopting them, never raised the problem of the risk of Italy being condemned by the European Union. It amazes us that this scruple is made only for measures concerning hunting. They who believe they are good, do the measures well and no sanctions will be imposed on Italy and Veneto.
Stival affirms that the system that regulates hunting is complex, but is forced to admit (he could not do otherwise) that the community regulations have been unchanged since 1979, totally reconfirmed by the recent directive 147/2009 / EC. Stival complains that the anti-huntsmen make appeals against his measures, forcing him to continue corrective measures. Stival should be reminded that in the last twenty years the anti-huntsmen have always resorted to all measures concerning hunting, with the only diffidence that in the past the anti-hunt appeals lost them.
In the last two years in which hunting in Veneto is managed by Federlega, the anti-huntsmen continue to win the appeals. One of the two: either the skill of the anti-hunts who make appeals has recently increased, or the capacity and competence of those who make regional measures concerning hunting has decreased.
Stival complains about the well-known hostile position of ISPRA but has done nothing to pass the regional law which, as foreseen by the current state law 157/92, could give life to the Veneto Institute for Wild Fauna which could provide to the Veneto Region those opinions that ISPRA does not want to provide. They pretend to fight to allow us to be “PARONI IN OUR HOUSE” and then, when they get hold of the house keys, they don't know what to do with them.
Stival states that Berlato, who has been sitting in the European Parliament for more than ten years, has done nothing to counter the anti-hunts. We remind Stival that in the ranks of his party, the Northern League, nine deputies were elected in Europe and still in the European Parliament to defend the interests of Padania and of which there are no interventions in defense of hunting and Po Valley hunters.
It is also useful to remember that Berlato has contributed to defending those Community Directives (79/409 / EEC and 147/2009 / EC) which still today allow regular hunting in all member states of the Union, including Italy.
As children who exhibit the abrasions caused by falls from the tricycle do, as if they were medals of merit and valor in battle, Stival exhibits some threats received from some exasperated citizen due to the continuous taking for a ride to which he is subjected by some administrator whose administrative skills seem to be unknown to most, passing them off as evidence of the risks he runs in fighting in favor of the hunters of the Veneto. It is useful to remember that Sergio Berlato has received dozens of threats (including death threats) in the last twenty years.
Unlike Stival or some of his colleagues in a skirt, Berlato has never been intimidated and has always continued to fight consistently to defend the rights of all citizens who ask to carry out their activities in compliance with current regulations.
I reiterate my proposal / bet made on the occasion of the very popular meeting held at the Fiera in Vicenza on December 15, 2011: The Veneto Region entrusts Sergio Berlato and the Associazione Cacciatori Veneti-CONFAVI with the management of hunting in Veneto.
If Sergio Berlato, starting from the next hunting season, fails to allow the hunters of the Veneto to return to hunting in a dignified way (including exceptions) in compliance with current regulations, he undertakes to resign from the office of European Parliament. This is Sergio Berlato's public bet and commitment. We await the response from the Region with curiosity.
