As usual, the Molise regional councilor Christian Di Pietro announced the discussion and majority approval of his agenda (Di Pietro is the managing director of Caccia). The last session of Regional Council has therefore given the green light to modify the letter D of the first paragraph of article 18 and paragraph 5 of the Law 157 of 1992. The goal is to allow the hunting of ungulates for four months in a row and four days a week.
Di Pietro underlined how everything possible was done to seek answers and solutions to the emergency represented by ungulates (wild boars in the first place). Individual hunting is considered the most valid solution, also because the wild are continuing to ravage all of Italy and the estimates speak of about 100 million euros a year as regards compensation.
The 1992 legislation, on the other hand, was judged anachronistic compared to the situation of the last quarter of a century, given that the ungulates on the territory have increased exponentially. The document just approved in Molise commits the Governor Paolo Di Laura Fracture to propose this change of law during the State-Regions Conference, while the President of the Regional Council, Vincent Cotugno, must transmit the request to the other Regional Councils.
