We have been talking a lot for some days of the Hermit Ibis killed by poachers in our country: there are seven specimens left that are continuing their flight to the south and the president of the Italian Federation of Hunting, Gianluca Dall'Olio, he specified that this bird cannot be exchanged with any other animal, so we must speak only of an act of poaching that "does not deserve discounts".
The Austrian researchers of the Waldrappteam and Parco Natura Viva of Bussolengo (province of Verona) have launched a international petition which was addressed to the European Parliament, the Carabinieri, the Ministry of the Environment, the State Forestry Corps and the Italian hunting associations.
The goal is to tighten controls even more to counter illegal hunting and allow the researchers themselves to continue their work. The scope of the killing is truly enormous and the appeal to hunters was very clear: we must report if you become aware of illegal incidents. The hope is that the killings will stop and no more fuel will be thrown on the fire.
