The culling of another Hermit Ibis in Italian territory has pushed the Bergamo section of the Italian Federation of Hunting to issue a press release. According to President Lorenzo Bertacchi, it is "a terrible scar on the face of Diana, the goddess of the Hunt". For FIDC Bergamo, it doesn't matter that it was a mistake by a hunter or a conscious act of poaching, the shooter must be considered a criminal. As reiterated on several occasions, the Ibis can never be confused with other huntable species and it must be reintroduced in Europe with a specific project.
The last culling took place in Camonica Valley and the X-ray showed the dots. The note states that it is not important at this point to discuss whether or not the poacher had a license or was a psychopath, the scar remains and society will not be able to distinguish between hunters and poachers. For Bertacchi it is not the license to make hunters become, but the passion and respect for the rules.
Furthermore, a hunter who takes down a Hermit Ibis is worse than a poacher, as it tarnishes the honor of all who are honest. Federcaccia Bergamo will appear as a civil party in the criminal trial launched against unknown persons, even if the feeling is that it will not be talked about as necessary and it will not be possible to trace the author.
