Stefano Mai, regional councilor for agriculture and hunting, had assured that an amendment to the previous resolution was being worked on to meet the hunters and yesterday's meeting of the council, Thursday 3 November 2016, approved the reopening of the hunting of this bird.
There have been changes to the text to incorporate the judges' remarks: in particular, it was decided to introduce the obligation to a distance of no more than 100 meters from the olive groves and scattered vegetation as regards this hunting in derogation. The suspension lasted almost a month, but now it will continue until next December 15th.
According to what Mai himself explained, the new measure was necessary, more than one could imagine. Effectively, the withdrawal of the transfer is essential to ensure the safeguarding of the olive production: it is a limited agricultural activity from a quantitative point of view, but still of great excellence when it comes to quality.
