The Management Committee ofTerritorial Area of Hunting Livorno 9 approved the start of the mouflon selection hunting in Capraia Isola for the day of Sunday 1st October 2017 for reasons of safety and opportunity. The decision was made after taking into account that in the period of August and September the hunting area coincides with the one most frequented by tourists.
The Island of Capraia is part of the Tuscan Archipelago and is located between Corsica and the Island of Elba, to be precise 64 kilometers from Livorno. Mouflon hunting was authorized for five days a week, except for Tuesdays and Fridays. The specimens that can be killed are also the adult males, the young males (binelli) the adult females, thin and small.
The selection hunt in this case involves the use of rifle with aiming optics, without forgetting the preferable use of ammunition that does not contain lead. The plan will be valid until 15 March 2018 and as regards the withdrawals up to January 31st, the garments must also be marked on the hunting card. Mouflons easily adapted to the climate of the island, particularly in the northern part, from the plain to the former penal colony.
