An important project, the first in Tuscany of this type. The Municipality of Manciano (province of Grosseto) strongly supported the project "Safe Hunting". Two other important supports were those of the local Misericordia and the ASL Toscana Sud Est. The mayor Mirco Morini and the municipal councilor with responsibility for health have thought about the presence on the territory of stations with defibrillators to prevent a sudden cardiac arrest turn into a tragedy. The local hunters have been specially trained and now know how to use these tools.
Among other things, a similar service is already active in Manciano called "Cardioprotected Municipality") which works in a similar way. The defibrillators will be used during wild boar hunts, a more than precious object if you take into account that the activity often takes place in inaccessible places and complicated to reach by the rescuers. As the mayor Morini underlined: "Spreading the culture of rescue among citizens is also a prerogative of a municipality, like ours, which works to network the village of Manciano and its hamlets and to spread the culture of cardio-protection, out of civic sense and solidarity.
The six hunting teams that have been formed are all operating in the municipality of Manciano. Each team saw the participation of four members trained in the use of the defibrillator and first aid and unblocking maneuvers. The training was carried out at the Misericordia di Manciano by the managing director of Health of the Municipality of Manciano, Luca Giorgi, Blsd regional trainer ”.
