Latest updates
The national park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise recently published an update on theAmarena bear: “The young Amarena bears are well and growing. The fact of being two is certainly a strong point in managing daily activities. They have also been spotted in recent days by some citizens who promptly notified us and for this we thank them. These animals are young bears who are now almost 10 months old and, as you can also see from the last video we published, they are no longer so much "cubs".
Hunting ban areas
“The Park, in view of the opening of wild boar hunting, has asked the competent offices of the Abruzzo Region and the ATC of Avezzano not to reopen hunting activities in the areas frequented by young bears, to avoid further disturbances and to allow them to continue carrying out their activities in preparation for hibernation. We reiterate that, as explained in many of our previous posts, continuous updating is not possible: those who think it is are confusing the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park with a small and fenced territory".
Freedom of movement
“Furthermore, precisely to avoid any potential disturbance and to leave them freedom of movement, those who monitor monitors certainly don't do it to take photos or videos. For this reason, even the images we have posted in the past have been "stolen" by camera traps and are, obviously, occasional. The bears do not always pass where the camera traps have been positioned, given that the territory they use, fortunately, is very vast" (source: PNALM).
