Montefeltro: In 1997 I was invited by a friend for a visit to Mongolia. The country that in my imagination represented an unexplored paradise, of uncontaminated nature and rich in game, overwhelmed me and immediately captured me. The passion for that land was sincere and strong.
After a month of traveling, along the Selenge River, on the border with Siberia, I found the "Promised Land". I knew from the first moment that this was the perfect place. It was a wide endless valley, 150 km deep and 60 km wide. Surrounding the completely uninhabited valley were hills covered with larch and birch trees at 1200 meters above sea level. The ideal habitat for game. In the infinite spaces and with breathtaking senari your faithful companion can wander in search of partridges always remaining in sight and allowing you to enjoy his search and his stills.
Hunting partridges in Mongolia is a new experience: completely indigenous, they are present in large quantities and live in large brigades of 30/40 specimens. A real animal that for millennia has defended itself from birds of prey and other predators enduring extreme conditions in the freezing Siberian winter.
The black grouse, on the other hand, lives in large larch and birch woods where it best defends itself from the dangers of predators and climatic conditions. The hunt starts at dawn and dusk, with the dog at your side in the small artisan plots of crops that alternate in the boundless tundra. During the hunting day, challenge yourself and your dog to an exciting and difficult quest as a true hunter. The luckiest hunters may encounter francolins and woodcocks. For those who love ball hunting, you can alternate it with hunting with the dog, especially with splendid specimens of Siberian roe deer.
Montefeltro, tour operator since 1993, leaves nothing to chance; the organization of the hunting trip in Mongolia is precise and detailed, careful and professional. On the other hand, the hunting season is short and not even a day can be wasted. It starts from the end of August and ends in mid-October; then the wide flat expanses and the distant peaks become home to cold and strong winds that whiten the hills, prepare the land for the long winter and Siberian colds. During those few months Montefeltro promises you an emotion, an unforgettable and adventurous journey. Reached Moscow from Italy, we leave for Ulaanbaatar. The journey has just begun: an evocative journey awaits you that will take you to the heart of the most authentic Mongolia, an unforgettable emotion that every hunter should count among his hunting memories.
In the field waiting for you you will find the Montefeltro team, the PH Pietro Apuzzo, the Mongolian staff, and the Benelli and Franchi semi-automatic or over-under shotguns (12 gauge), which will be at your disposal, free of charge for the entire period. Flaps of blue fabric will welcome you, intense in color like the sky blown by the wind. During my first visit, the blaze of blue amazed me: I was told that blue is an important color here, a color that everyone wears. Once you get out of the car, the region awaits you intense and strong: it is easy to understand that Mongolia is a sensory experience made of scents and sounds.
Summer is the lavender season; the breeze tickles your nose with sudden scents, which you do not expect. The meadows are colored with an intense green that is tinged with purple, and flowers never seen before surprise you in their perfect geometries. During autumn the colors change, the suggestions change. The crisp yellow meadows are preparing for winter and here and there, short woods of pine and birch appear surprisingly, like fragrant oases of gold and silver. They are the home of the black grouse, who stands there quietly and alertly.
The accommodations are the surprise: you can choose between the accommodation in GHER, the typical Mongolian tent, or the characteristic wooden cottage. What matters is the nature that surrounds you, the scent of wilderness, the hospitality of the people, the night sky shining with a thousand stars and the daytime sky, combed by the winds, clear and cold. From the tent you can hear the wind singing, the crickets talking and during the long dawns you will hear the intense silence that here, in Mongolia is a satisfying and proud noise. Everything else is an author's hunt, a dream come true. During the five days that will follow your arrival you will do nothing but devote yourself to your passion, hunting.
A special journey, which you can share with your friends and your dogs, at the end of which, we have no doubt, you will get to know yourself, your hunting skills and your hunting passion even better.
