New regulation
To combat the spread of wild boars in Italy with concrete and preventive actions Emilia Romagna, the regional councilor Massimiliano Pompignoli filed "a package of observations on the new Regulation of ungulates, which is being implemented by the Bonaccini council".
Change of pace necessary
“The wild boar emergency is a real emergency” – recalled Pompignoli – “there are no longer any limits to the intrusion of these animals into the urban contexts of our cities. In recent days, in Bologna, a large wild boar broke the window of the Codivilla Putti research center of the Rizzoli Institute. It is clear that an important change of pace is needed on this front too, with courageous containment policies far from any animal rights logic. The proposals from the world of associations and which we have submitted to Councilor Alessio Mammi are reasonable and incisive. On several occasions I have underlined the importance of allowing the shooting action with 9 hunters and 2 handlers with respective limiters and the hunting action starting from 12 participants".
Hunting calendar 2024-2025
Pompignoli then commented on “the new hunting calendar, which the Region is working on to bring to the commission. We cannot continue to pretend that morphologically the Emilian territory is the same as that of Romagna. Adopting a single plan is, in many respects, limiting and penalizing for both territories which must deal with equal rules for everyone in the awareness of the profound diversity that characterizes the areas" (Source: Lega Romagna Press Office).
