Hereby the Provincial Federation Arci Caccia of Pisa, as also enshrined in our congressional documents, he believes “The wild boar” a resource. The management of this species is certainly problematic and requires continuous, rational and correct action. The role of the “organized” teams is decisive and must be well defined, with rewards and penalties. Regional legislation establishes "suitable" areas, areas where this species can coexist with the territory and so-called "white" areas in which the presence of the wild boar should be almost zero.
The regional addresses have as their objective the conservation of the species, of the environment, of agriculture and its productions, road safety and the protection of other minor and traditional game species of our territories.
The Regional Council of Tuscany with resolution no. 77 of 1 August 2018 approved the new areas suitable for the wild boar species, after an initial evaluation of the cartography, we express our perplexity about the identification methodology used.
Analyzing the maps of the suitable areas concerning the territory of the Province of Pisa, several critical issues are highlighted:
- municipalities of Castelfranco di Sotto and Santa Maria a Monte, the new areas of the “Cerbaie” area are included in a heavily man-made territory crossed by busy roads;
- Municipality of Montecatini Val di Cecina, in the new suitable areas are inserted the floodplains and the banks of the Cecina river, which crosses the homonymous plain where specialized and valuable agricultural crops are practiced;
- Municipality of peccioli, an area where the suitable areas have been inserted in its territory for the first time and include small jagged areas including embankments and floodplains of streams, poplar groves and small bushy gullies, falling within large agricultural areas cultivated with cereals, fine fodder and vineyards.
Area widely suited, among other things, for small sedentary game. The vocation of these areas clearly shows a political forcing of the Tuscan REGIONAL Council, calling the territory for the presence of the wild boar, perhaps to please a small corporation of hunters, is not a rational management but wild boarization of the territory. Therefore the provincial federation ARCICACCIA of Pisa, kindly asks for a meeting with the Councilor Remaschi and the offices in charge to have clarifications and explanations and to propose any corrections in the elaboration of the new Wildlife Plan of the TUSCANY Region. We thank you in advance and cordially greet you while waiting.
