Marco Efisio Pisanu, number one of Hunting Fishing Environment Sardinia, wrote to the LIPU, WWF and Italia Nostra associations and to the Regional Councilors to talk about Territorial Areas of Hunting. Both the local authority and the animal rights activists would like to see the ATC set up, a position that left Pisanu baffled. According to CPA Sardegna, in fact, they are forgetting too much the damage caused by the Sectors in the rest of the country.
Their establishment would lead to millions more culls, risking the extinction of several species. Sardinia is the only region that has so far managed to avoid ATCs. The favorable island hunters would be just 5%, but for Pisanu these people would like real slaughter and the sale of a territory that with the Ambiti would be beaten by over 120 thousand hunters. Another favorable part is found in the Regional Council.
For CPA, the issue should be approached in a scientific way and without preconceptions. A joint note spoke of ATCs as an indispensable tool for proper management of hunted wildlife, a statement deemed unwise. Finally, Pisanu dispelled two other myths about the Areas, namely the hunter's link to the territory and the exclusion of metropolitan-hunters away.
