La Confederation of Tuscan Hunters published a press release to talk about the hunting season 2017-2018 and not positive news concerning the territory. The months preceding the opening of the hunt were characterized by a disastrous event for the fauna and hunting activity, with the drought that has played its part and many hectares of woods devastated by fire.
According to the CCT, the Tuscany Region would have its responsibilities. In particular, the association recalled the notorious Objective Law for the management of ungulates and the not very encouraging results as regards the wild boar control. Biodiversity is at risk and the massive presence of wild animals causes an objective difficulty in encouraging the presence of small sedentary game.
The Confederation also criticized the uncertainty that reigns supreme in the assignment of competences to the Territorial Hunting Areas, a confusion that has prevented correctly plan investments for wildlife management. Furthermore, adequate measures to control predators have not been guaranteed for the Restocking and Capture Areas. The press release ends with the conviction to restart everything from the good management, despite the weather and its "whims" are certainly not helpful. The Tuscany Region was invited to support the hunters' effort.
