An anonymous survey
The Regional Presidency of Umbria of the National Free Hunting Association
([email protected]) made public the results of the survey promoted on the occasion of the last edition of Hunting Village of Bastia Umbra (PG). The survey, carried out in an absolutely anonymous manner, allowed Umbria's hunters and fishermen to "vote" the work of the Region, at the same time indicating to local and national politicians (at least for some matters) the actions that they would like to be implemented in order to best practice their passion. In the headquarters of the National Association of Free Hunting and Fishing of Umbria, in the presence of the regional president Lando Loretoni, a representative of the voluntary guards and numerous hunters and fishermen (many of whom are not members of the Free Hunting) the polls were opened and counted the ballots deposited in the three days of the fair. Of the more than 3 ballots distributed, 2637 were deposited in the polls and 4% of them were blank or only partially completed.
The results of the survey
As for the overall vote assigned to the Region regarding hunting, fishing and environmental policies, 61% of those who voted believe the action is not sufficient ("insufficient" for 31% and "very insufficient" for 30%). While for 20% regional work was judged "sufficient" and for 19% "more than sufficient".

The words of the president
"Indications for the end of the legislature and for the next electoral campaign"
At the end of the counting operations and in the light of the results recorded, President Lando Loretoni drew some conclusions of a political-hunting nature, with indications for the end of the legislature and for the next electoral campaign. “Some results – says Loretoni – were even plebiscitary, as in the case of the hunting of collared dove, starling and wild pigeon by way of derogation; on brown trout fishing; on the role of the ATCs. But, in general, also for the other questions the indications provided by the survey were extremely clear, with requests for change also from that 39% of hunters and fishermen who nonetheless consider the action of the Region to be positive”. "This initiative - adds the regional president - was intended for a comparison with the entire base of regional hunters and fishermen (not only those registered with the Anlc), and at the same time to have confirmation of the consensus received from the initiatives that the Libera Caccia is carrying on in Umbria”. "Beyond the associative aspects - concluded Lando Loretoni - it is undeniable that the value of this initiative lies precisely in the 'participatory' meaning of hunters and fishermen in the events concerning the regional hunting policy, stimulating the direct intervention of each and above all, the dialectical and constructive confrontation between the various components of the local hunting associations, which must make its voice reach the addresses of the palaces of power” (source: ANLC).
