A story linked touse of mud and gypsum as fertilizers paid by a company of the province of Brescia is at the center of major controversy. We do not want to enter into the merits, it is the task of the judiciary, but we feel obliged to make some reflections. What have our grounds done wrong beautiful Po Valley for having to receive sludge and gypsum from city purifiers as fertilizers? How does the use of these effluents combine with the excellence of our agriculture? And above all, what are the implications for the resident and migratory fauna?
It is said, for example, that the lark is in difficulty: it certainly is in transit on the Po Valley if what it finds is this crap in the land! None of us go to eat in a restaurant where you eat badly, you always choose the one where the food is better and consequently also the larks like other migratory species they do this. So much so that in areas where agriculture does not use these residues, we think of the Eastern countries, the skylark seems to be anything but a species in suffering.
We therefore very much welcome the concrete, legal and administrative initiatives, carried out by the regional councilor for agriculture Fabio Rolfi in wanting to try to curb and limit the use of these products on the land. Protecting Nature, good agricultural practices, virtuous agricultural entrepreneurs really means try to create a virtuous and quality supply chain that keeps what is still defined today as the Primary sector, agriculture, at the highest levels.
