"Research on the pre-nuptial migration period of song thrush": this is the title of the study conducted on behalf of the provincial section of Imperia of Italian Federation of Hunting da Luke Terrizzano. This is a very important documentation, so much so that it was delivered in Strasbourg to the MEP Renata Briano to justify the closure of the bird hunt at the date of 20 February.
The hunting association wanted to analyze in detail the migration of the song thrush for adapt once and for all the hunting calendars of our country with those of other European countries, France in the first place. In particular, the study underlines that the situation of Liguria is no different from that of southern France, a similarity that obviously depends on geographical proximity.
The pre-nuptial migration never begins before February 1st, more precisely from the third decade. In the words of Terrizzano, who has a degree in Natural Sciences, we are talking aboutmigratory instinct which is based on the alternation of the various seasons, as well as on the photo-period and other relevant factors. Italy is located in the wintering area of the species and the same must be said for the south of France, Spain, Greece and North Africa.
