Also this year the concession of pre openings by many Regions (16 out of 20, including Lombardy and Piedmont only in some provinces) was accompanied by controversies, appeals and alarmist reports, taken up largely without contradiction and without any verification by the media, by the usual anti-hunt acronyms, which denounce hypothetical massacres and violations of the laws. In reality, massacres do not happen: the permitted species are a minimum number, well identified and from the point of view of the populations perfectly capable of sustaining a sampling, limited to a few animals and for a few hours.
As far as the law is concerned, the granting of pre-openings by the Regions is expressly provided for by the relevant legislation. This year, however, in July, when many regional calendars had already been issued and some still had to be deliberated, we witnessed the intervention of the Ministry of the Environment, which in a letter addressed to the Regions and Autonomous Provinces invited them to do not authorize collection days before the general opening for the turtledove. Apart from the incongruity, immediately highlighted by Federcaccia, of the Ministry which on the one hand invited not to concede what was presented as sustainable in the same letter, it is worth noting how the invitation of the central government was fortunately not accepted by the Regions .
Once again the groove that divides i different levels of the state, and this can only be of concern. Even if conducted in a more gentle way, the "advice" of Minister Costa - in turn recommended by whom? - reminds us of what happened with the previous Minister and the institutional clash that took place between the Government and the Regions over the timing of the woodcock and turdidae harvest in January. We would not want - to think badly, said a well-known politician, it is sinful but one is almost always right - that that of the Minister had been a kind of test, to see if and how many Regions were ready to follow his indications, contrary to the scientific data and to the guidelines of Ispra itself, which was also put in a position to have to renege on what has already been declared. We hope that Minister Costa will also discuss hunting issues with hunting associations, to find together solutions that are possibly updated, certain and above all. not marked by ideology on issues concerning the environment, fauna and territory of the country. Fauna needs certainty and clarity of addresses to be managed and protected. Federcaccia, who in collaboration with the AAVV Control Room, had promptly sent the Regions a technical document on the turtle dove that demonstrated the sustainability of the pre-opening is ready as always a comparison based on technical data, fair and open with the Institutions.
We await the indication that the Ministry shares this position. Now that the pre openings have been filed, the interest of all hunters is directed to next Sunday, for the general opening of the hunting season. We take the opportunity to offer all hunters a perhaps obvious but sincere wish for this appointment. The main recommendation is as always for safety. Always very high attention so that this day of leisure and immersion in nature, as well as those that will follow, are not marred by accidents. We remind you to always behave responsibly and correctly, in compliance with the law and the ethical rules that must distinguish a hunter. Let's do it out of respect for others and above all ours. A positive image, also made up of small things, of small gestures, it can only benefit our relationships with other members of society, which does not always accept us and often does not understand us. To all Italian hunters, therefore, a strong and sincere "Good luck!"
