The latest findings
The recognized hunting associations Federcaccia, Enalcaccia, Arcicaccia, ANLC, ANUUMigratoristi, Italcaccia, and the CNCN - National Hunting and Nature Committee, gathered together in the Control Room of the hunting world, comment positively on the data disclosed by the University of Urbino: l The latest report on the detection of victims of hunting confirms, in fact, the decreasing trend of hunting accidents in the last few years. The analysis shows that, in the period from 1 September 2023 to 31 January 2024, there were a total of 55 accidents, a number 4,34% lower than the previous season, in which there were 62 accidents recorded.
A total halved
Another significant figure concerns the number of victims, 5 in the season just ended, and therefore more than halved compared to the 13 recorded in the last one. The decrease is also confirmed on an annual basis: 2023 ends, in fact, with 8 victims, compared to 11 in 2022; observing the long-term trend, the decline appears even more significant because it is constant every year. Regarding the methodology, the research conducted by the University of Urbino takes into consideration exclusively hunting accidents that occurred in relation to lawful and correct hunting practices, consequently excluding all incorrect ones, such as poaching and acts of intentional violence, which the Cabin Royal complaint as illegal activities, and other causes not easily foreseeable such as illnesses, falls and accidents occurring in nature.
The issue of security
The positive trend that has been recorded in recent years is the result of a timely work to raise awareness around the theme of safety, central to the discussion regarding responsible hunting, carried out by the Control Room and by the hunting world with commitment and dedication. The results recorded this year, encouraging for the seventh consecutive year, are however not a point of arrival, but remain part of a journey still in progress, the objective of which is to achieve, in the coming years, zero accidents occurring in hunting field (Members of the hunting world control room: Federcaccia, Enalcaccia, AnuuMigratoristi, Arcicaccia, Associazione Nazionale Libera Caccia, Italcaccia, CNCN - National Nature Hunting Committee).
