The monitoring operations carried out by Federcaccia Vicenza in collaboration with the provincial police, within the project of pre-alpine passes promoted by the Region, Veneto Agriculture and supported byFedercaccia migratory birds office. The operation, like every year, will focus in particular on finches and brambles, a species whose hunting in derogation has been banned for some time.
Twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, the appropriately trained volunteers will be at the Mesole and Ristele passes, between the municipalities of Recoaro and Crespadoro, the two most important migration routes (flyways) of the Veneto, to spot and record the passing specimens, during the period following reproduction. This work is of considerable scientific importance, to try to answer the questions on post-reproductive migrations, but also to bring people who have always wanted to witness this phenomenon, but have not had the opportunity to come closer.
The two species have been subject for a few months a very heated debate as regards hunting in Lombardy. The draft laws on exemptions and on live calls in the roccoli they were rejected in the Regional Council, inevitably displeasing the hunting world.
