Hunting: Piacenza, hunters protest against the Province, there is too much confusion and "little seriousness" in the Venatori Calendars; 1200 threaten "We will not renew the card".
Next March over 1200 Piacenza hunters are ready not to renew their card. New protest by the Piacenza Hunters Committee (Cobas Caccia), which in recent weeks had made its voice heard complaining of excessive restrictions and too much confusion in the hunting calendars. Among the targets of the hunters, the Province still flew, accused of "little seriousness". The body of via Garibaldi, underlines the president of the Committee Giovanni Bertaglia, "has not yet updated the wildlife hunting plan, which expired in December 2012". And given the future of the provinces, after the draft law that provides for the emptying of functions and therefore the abolition, the fear of hunters is that the situation could get worse. “Next year we will not renew our licenses - Bertaglia announces - now only so we can make our voice heard. The decline in Piacenza hunters is continuous; this year, data in hand, 58% of the total number of hunters comes from outside the province, especially from Lombardy, but also from Liguria, Tuscany and Veneto ”.
Many issues were raised by the committee, which on several occasions addressed the Province, the Region and also the Ministry of Agricultural Policies: among the issues raised by Bertaglia the sharp decline in game, especially hares and pheasants and in particular in the area of lower Piacenza, for hunters due to “the increasing use of phytosanitary products in agriculture”. Then there are criticisms of the costs and stakes for practicing hunting, particularly in certain areas, such as in the Trebbia park: “The situation is paradoxical - affirms Bertaglia -. To go hunting in a park, in addition to a series of taxes that add up to the expenses that hunters already incur, given the authorizations that are required, you now have to be veterinarians, wildlife technicians and even surveyors ”.
There is also a dig at the environmental associations: “It is always easy to accuse us hunters, who already pay fine taxes, even someone else should take on their responsibilities. When it comes to damage by wolves or ungulates to crops, who pays? Why don't environmentalists take responsibility for the damage? ”.
