On May 18th the Hall of the Associations of Torri D'Arcugnano, in the province of Vicenza, hosted the conference dedicated toIbis Eremita in Europe and organized by LIFE + Reasoon for Hope project. The Italian referent, Nicoletta Perco, explained how the species is reintroduced, which learns the migratory route from man. Another topic addressed was that of poaching, certainly one of the main obstacles to the return of the rare bird.
In fact, in recent months i cases of culling there were five and thanks to the collaboration of the hunting world we are trying to protect the Ibis in the periods most at risk. A team will follow and monitor every movement: meanwhile, the spring migration is coming to an end and 11 birds have reached the production sites, while another 12 are on the way.
The app Animal Trackers allows you to follow them closely: they are located in Austria and Italy (the locations are Prato, Montalto di Casto and Aviano just to name a few). The public meetings in the area will serve to raise awareness and make people aware of problems related to the species and its reintroduction.
