Montefiascone, Tuscania, Montalto di Castro and Civita Castellana. These are the four municipalities in the province of Viterbo that will characterize the so-called "quadrangular" of Italian Federation of Hunting. We are talking about the amateur dog competitions on partridges which are intended for registered and unregistered pointing dogs (without shot): the trials are also open to all hunters, so registering with other associations will not represent a limit to participation. We will therefore start tomorrow with the first test in Montefiascone, with the meeting point at the Donnino Bar in Via Orvietana.
The subsequent stages will be precisely those of Tuscania (Sunday March 20 with the meeting at the "Espressino" bar), Montalto di Castro (Sunday April 3 at the "Oasi" bar) and Civita Castellana (Sunday April 10 at the “Jimmy” bar). The participation fee is 20 euros and a rich breakfast is included. We must not forget a fundamental detail, namely that the races are reserved for "English", "Continental" and "Young" categories (up to 18 months).
The rules will be posted during the race. Also this year it was possible to organize such an interesting quadrangular: already from the Montefiascone test it will be possible to place fifty pairs of certified partridges on the competition ground and ready for the moment of hatching. The organizers have tried to give importance to dog lovers and the repopulation of the Viterbo area. The 2015 edition was a real success, as more than 60 pointing dogs participated, it is inevitable that even better and ambitious results are expected for the next few days.
The binomial partridge-province of Viterbo has always been pretty solid. In fact, gods have been started for some years now experimental programs to reintroduce the bird and the balance has been encouraging so far, especially as regards the area between Montefiascone and Viterbo. Farmers and hunters were involved, with the sowing of sunflowers and clovers, useful for feeding partridges near the reserves of the areas.
The selected disposable crops allowed to create suitable environment for these animals and many others, restoring the original environmental characteristics of the area. The four days of rehearsals and the patronage of Federcaccia are proof that the path taken is the right one: the show is guaranteed, tomorrow in Montefiascone should be cloudy, but the weather conditions, despite any difficulties that may be encountered by dogs and handlers, shouldn't be a big problem.
