SKEET: First day of competition for the Skeet specialists who today kicked off the final races of the 2nd Round of the World Cup.
The women's sector faced the first of three qualifying series. After 25 targets at the head of the group is our Chiara Cainero (Forestale) from Udine. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Champion opened her competition immediately making things clear with a perfect 25/25.
Like her, only the Swedish Therese Lundqvist. A little late Virginia Orlando di Montalbano Jonico who finished with 23 and Katiuscia Spada (Fiamme Oro) of Fabro (TR) with 22. For them the road to the final is slightly uphill but the blue will have plenty of time to recover in the last two qualifying series that they will face tomorrow.
For the best six there will be another 25 finals, scheduled for 16.00 local time in Sydney, when in Italy it will be 07.00 in the morning. For the men's sector, today's program included 50 targets. At the moment, the German Buchheim, the Cypriot Christoforou, the Greek Mitas and the Russian Skorobogatov are leading the provisional ranking, all with 50/50.
A step back, with 49/50 there is the blue Luigi Agostino Lodde from Ozieri (SS). For him, only one mistake on the first target of the second series that still keeps him perfectly in the game for the final on Thursday. In addition to the medals, there will also be two Olympic Cards. The road for Valerio Luchini (Carabinieri) of Rome is more complicated, who today made 3 mistakes closing at 47. The Roman will have to try not to make mistakes anymore to hope to be able to access the decisive series.
Probably out of the game Angelo Moscariello di Montella (AV) who did not go beyond 22 in both series this morning. For him a meager 44/50. Tomorrow the men will face the third qualifying series (25 targets) and will close the competition on Thursday 31 March with the last 50 targets and the final reserved for the best six.
