Even the specialty of Double Trap is ready to officially start the new competitive season. It is not just one of the "variants" of skeet shooting, but also and above all the youngest ever Olympic specialty. Mirco Cenci, Technical Commissioner of the Italian National Team, has gathered his athletes for the start of this 2016, talking about those who will be the objectives to be achieved over the next few months. According to Cenci, three days of very intense work are about to begin, with the Double Trap shooters who will be divided between technical training on the platform and physical preparation sessions in the gym.
The main goal remains that of Brazilian Olympics in Rio de Janeiro which will begin on August 5th, which is why this date was thought of as the best time for the technical run-up to the games. The physical preparation, on the other hand, started some time ago: Professor Fabio Partigiani presented Cenci with a report concerning five shooters. Two of these athletes will most likely be those who will be present in Brazil, so this is a fundamental document. The CT will be able to count on Antonio Barilla (Navy), originally from Villa San Giuseppe (province of Reggio Calabria), the Terracinese Daniel DiSpigno (Fiamme Oro), the Marche region David Gasparini (Italian Army) and the Tuscan Marco Innocenti.
He was unable to attend the rally Alexander Chianese (Navy), the fifth shooter of this group. From today until the early afternoon of Sunday 7 February the structures of Shooting Umbriaverde of Todi will host this team and some members of the National B-University, struggling with physical preparation. The Double Trap meeting closely follows those of the Olympic Pit and Skeet. The specialty in question is also known as Double Trap and requires shooters to alternate shooting on five platforms, as is the case for the Olympic Pit.
The athletes are asked to hit as many targets with the two shots in the barrel, which they come out simultaneously, with a fixed trajectory and in different directions: the launch is carried out by two machines that are in a pit fifteen meters from the shooter. The men's competitions are characterized by fifty targets with the firing of 150 targets, while in the female ones there are usually 40 targets and it stops at 160 targets. The Double Trap became an Olympic specialty on the occasion of the 1996 Atlanta Games, therefore it is about to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of this historical anniversary.
