La Faculty of Economics "Carlo Bo" ofUniversity of Urbino conducted a very interesting research that will be presented today on the occasion of the official opening of theVicenza HIT Show. The university examined the health conditions of theItalian arms industry: the production of weapons and ammunition for civil use, for hunting and sport has a value of almost 7,3 million euro, ie 0,44% of the gross domestic product.
The employed in the sector are 87549 (0,56% of the total). In addition, the sector has grown well 19 percentage points compared to eight years ago, thanks mainly to exports (over 90% of the overall result). The latest data dated back to 2010 and are of a certain value. In fact, the arms sector as a whole amounts to almost one billion euros, to be precise 909 million, while the impact is greater than 759 million. However, there has been a decline, namely the value of the sectors linked to the demand for products and services by hunters and shooters.
The crisis had an inevitable influence, without however forgetting the Italian laws, which were not a little penalizing. As pointed out by Stefano Fiocchi, number one ofANPAM file, such estimates certify the industrial excellence of the arms sector, a true expression of Made in Italy manufacturing. In a nutshell, we must speak of a healthy industry, with a growing employment and productivity value: the foreign market, then, still considers Italy a point of reference, even if for Fiocchi our system should be put on the same level with that of the other European countries.
