Not even two weeks after the constitution FENAVERI, the newly formed association which brings together Italian Federation of Hunting, Enalcaccia, Arci Caccia and ANUUMigratoristi, has decided to turn to the Italian regions. The reason is represented by the wood pigeon and from the desire to have these local authorities deepen the local document with the data that support the pre-opening to the bird. Some regions, in fact, they did not foresee it in their 2016-2017 hunting calendars, but the numbers speak of something else.
The no of Veneto, Lazio, Abruzzo and Campania has turned up his nose, given that in Italy there has been a sharp increase in breeding populations. Even the ISPRA guidelines for the drafting of these calendars they confirmed the increase. As stated in the document attached by FENAVERI, the wood pigeon is hunted intensively throughout the European continent, with opening dates between early August and early September (except for the Netherlands).
Population growth is a concrete reality also in the old continent, consequently it can be said that this species tolerates the hunting to which it is subjected very well. Here because Italian hunters should be able to take advantage of two or more pre-opening days, a choice that would also make the pressure on the turtledove lighter, especially which is instead constantly decreasing.
