The regional presidents of the Veneto of the Italian Federation of Hunting, ANUUMigrators and Arci Caccia they turned to Giuseppe Pan, regional councilor, to the governor Luca Zaia and to the president of the Regional Council, Roberto Ciambetti, to express some observations on the pre-opening of the wood pigeon. In particular, the three hunting associations were not convinced by the non-inclusion of the bird in the hunting calendar 2016-2017.
As you can read in their letter, the species in question is currently enjoying an excellent state of health, moreover it is constantly increasing: the exclusion from hunting collection in the first days of September it was therefore defined as "inappropriate". The presidents are also convinced of the falsity of what is being said about the wood pigeon, namely the fact that it cannot bear the two days in pre-opening.
Among other things, the letter also underlines how this levy would shift attention from the turtledove, a species that is really in difficulty. Taking into account the non-binding opinion of ISPRA, the three hunting associations said they were happy to make any scientific study available to support their thesis. For this reason, the hope is that there will be a change to the 2016-2017 calendar as soon as possible, with the proposal of 1 and 4 September next like hunting days.
