As reported byFaunistic and Agro-Environmental Studies and Research Office of Italian Federation of Hunting, the pre-nuptial migration of the black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) is in progress and some individuals stop in the waters of a clear hunting in Tuscany, in which the water is also maintained during spring. The species is judged "Vulnerable" in Europe byIUCN and hunting clears offer nourishment and rest in a poor territory of humid areas at low depth and with fresh water.
Where would these godwits have stopped if there hadn't been thisoasis of biodiversity? Surely their journey would have been longer and the fatigue higher, with possible negative consequences for some subjects. Hunting is confirmed as an instrument of conservation, with an important specification: at no cost to the community.
