It is essential that wildlife containment actions continue in all provinces of ours Region and, indeed, they must become more effective in light of the increase in accidents and incidents damage caused by wild boars, but also of the risk that the latter could spread epizootic diseases. Although, in fact, our Region falls within the so-called "red zones", the interventions related to the plans for the containment of wild boars can be regularly carried out ".
This is what they claim Roberto Moncalvo President of Coldiretti Piedmont and Bruno Rivarossa confederal delegate in commenting on the regional measure which, since November 3, or since Piedmont is included in the red zones for the Covid emergency, has precautionarily suspended the hunting activity. Following the new cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Germany, the European Commission has published the Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1645 which adds some parts of Saxony to the list of areas from which the movement of pigs and germinal products is prohibited. for intra-community trade purposes until 31 January 2021.
"Precisely in the face of this situation, also linked to Swine Fever, the suspension of hunting risks generating even greater problems that go to exacerbate the continuous proliferation of the number of wild animals with the exacerbation of the criticalities and related risks - continue Moncalvo and Rivarossa -, which is why we are calling for boar hunting to be reopened. Up to now, as we have already highlighted during the Council of Coldiretti Piemonte last October 15 to the governor, Alberto Cirio, and to the vice president, Fabio Carosso, the containment plans implemented have not been sufficient and so it is unsustainable to go ahead for the agricultural entrepreneurs, but also for citizens whose security is absolutely not preserved. We therefore hope that the Region will be able to clarify as soon as possible, as the situation that has arisen, already currently, is unsustainable ”.
