The Umbrian regional section of the Italian Federation of Hunting communicated the date and place of the first “Montagne Umbre” trophy on woodcocks. This is an interesting amateur, individual and team competition, which does not provide for the killing of birds and which is intended for pointing dogs, specifically continental breeds and English breeds. The single test will take place on Sunday 13 March a Città di Castello (province of Perugia), to be precise in the San Zino state property area. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 am at the parking lot of the “Ansa del Tevere” bar: lunch will be offered to all competitors. The prizes that will be awarded by Federcaccia will concern the first three classified in each single category (Continental and English therefore).
Furthermore, the first classified in each of the two categories will be awarded the title of "Champion of the First Umbrian Mountains Trophy Federcaccia su woodcocks 2016". Going into more detail of the rules of this race, it must be said that all those can take part hunters who are holders of rifle port, hunting license and membership card of any hunting association, provided that these documents are valid.
Young people who have not yet turned 18 can participate even if they do not have a hunting license, but they must still have the amateur card of the Federcaccia. Furthermore, each participant will have the opportunity to register a maximum number of dogs belonging to a single category, without forgetting the necessary compliance with the regulations in force for the Italian Amateur Cup for Federcaccia pointing dogs. There may be several reasons for the exclusion of the dog in this case.
For example, judges will be able to exclude due to lack of initiative or discontinuity of the action, in addition to the towing and the continuous disturbance to the couple, the abandonment of the stop, the refusal to drive when there are the conditions to do so, the refusal of consent, the fear of shooting, the persistent henchman and more than two still in white. In the Italian Amateur Cup, moreover, dogs classified in the preliminary rounds are usually subjected to a further test, that of the cold carry: it uses sedentary game or, alternatively, the farmed pigeon. The amateur competition requires the judges to assign qualifications, the highest one is "Excellent", also valid for other natural game such as snipe, partridge, gray partridge, hare, wild quail and mountain game.
