Hunting Trips - United States: boundless land with many possibilities… hunting.
The United States has always embodied a dream. That dream was the desire for fulfillment of millions of people in terms of work and certainties. But the USA also offers dreams… in the hunting field. Boundless landscapes and abundance of game are just a taste of what might be found in the new world.
The American continent, compared to Europe, is sparsely populated. In fact, there are boundless hectares of still wild or almost wild territory, which offer the hunter the opportunity to confront himself with a wonderful and surprising nature. Some US states like Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and of course Alaska are huge.
The same can be said of Canada, which is just as vast. Millions of animals belonging to different and numerous species live in these boundless areas. you will be able to admire flocks of geese and ducks that plow the sky during the migration period.
According to some who have traveled to the United States for hunting purposes, America is a hunting paradise. In particular, Alaska is the most successful in terms of visits, even if hunting activities are particularly expensive due to many factors.
First of all the movements. In some cases it is essential to rent a plane or a boat to go hunting in the most populated areas of game. Equipment such as tents, sleeping bags, specialized clothing, weapons and various accessories are just as expensive. Another thing that affects the price is the obligation to hire a professional guide for certain non-resident hunts.
On the other hand, in such a vast and wild state it is necessary to be accompanied by those who know the territory and the fauna well above all, which in some cases could be dangerous or difficult to find. Moreover, very often it is necessary to resort to specialized vehicles to reach areas with a high density of game: the "four-wheelers" or small amphibious vehicles with wheels or tracks, are in fact able to cross rivers and swamps and transport hundreds of pounds of moose or caribou meat.
In other US states, however, it is necessary to spend both a lot of time and money to get to the mountain areas most frequented by deer, wild sheep, bears or other types of animals. In many cases the horse is used as a means of locomotion. The sore point is that both the horses and the guides are quite expensive.
Apart from the off-limits areas for hunting, for which very expensive licenses are required to enter and hunt, there are areas where the deer has adapted to live such as agricultural ones, near cultivated fields surrounded by areas of scrub or forest. where they can hide. These areas also contain other types of game: antelos, hares, rabbits, pheasants, gray partridges, ducks and geese, turtle doves.
To access these areas, there are asphalted or dirt and gravel roads, which facilitate entry for hunters. In the less populated states of the US it is still relatively easy to get farmers' consent to hunt on their land. It is customary, in order to take advantage of the possibility of hunting in private land, to make friends with farmers already in spring or summer, instead of waiting for the opening to ask for permission. Many American hunters, for example9, offer to help the farmer fix a fence, bushes to be cut, stables to be painted.
In more populated states, access to private land becomes more problematic. Many farmers tend to rent their land to groups of hunters who enjoy exclusive use of the land. The cost of rent varies according to the types and quantities of game that can be hunted in these funds. Other farmers instead "sell", in the strict sense of the term, access to their land by the day.
In California the most common hunting institution is the “hunting club”, that is a group of wealthy hunters who rents or even buys a fund, sometimes even very extensive. In these lands, crops are carried out not only to obtain a harvest, but above all to attract game.
In the delta of the San Joaquin River, for example, these clubs generally manage to procure the use of an entire island, where corn and other grains are grown, much appreciated by ducks. At the end of the summer, after the harvest, the river banks are opened and the flooded fields become the natural habitat of ducks and geese.
Later, in these flooded fields, barrels or masonry huts equipped with stoves and armchairs are installed to accommodate privileged hunters in comfort.
To participate in a lease of certain areas or areas, you get to shell out tens and tens of thousands of dollars each to become members, and annual dues of five or six million a year to contribute to the expenses.
The United States, as we know, is a land of a thousand possibilities. For those lucky enough to be able to afford certain solutions, the hunt is guaranteed, there is no doubt. For mere mortals, however, there are more affordable options for a hunting trip.
On the next trip, we will address this aspect to give more information to those wishing to go on a hunting trip to the United States.
