The third of the four canine trials of the so-called quadrangular of Federcaccia Viterbo on partridges. From March 13th to April 10th, the pointing dogs of the English, Continental and Youth categories, a very interesting appointment. After the Montefiascone and Tuscania races, yesterday, Sunday 3 April 2016, it was the turn of Montalto di Castro. The event, organized by the local section of the Italian Federation of Hunting, was characterized by a large and enthusiastic participation, despite a rather busy day which however gave various satisfactions. The total competitors were more than 70 and as far as the origin is concerned, we have not limited ourselves to Lazio only, since also the Toscana it was well represented.
The competition fields were those of the locality Silver and dogs and handlers were called to locate a wild bird among the local vegetation. Specifically, the official poster of the event referred to partridges, without shooting. The winners were awarded important Maremma gastronomic prizes and the Councilor for Culture of the Viterbo municipality, Eleanor Sacconi, wished to express his appreciation towards those who participated in the dog trial and the members of the federation. The commissioner himself pointed out the beauty of this event, now in its third year with a growing number of participants.
Sacconi explained how hunting is an important discipline, capable of incentivize even more the growth and promotion of the territory if evaluated and promoted in the right way. Work is already underway on the 2017 edition of the test for pointing dogs: for the future they are in the phase of evaluation of new ideas, in order to further grow the event. The rules that drivers and animals are obliged to respect are posted during the race. On the land made available it is possible enter fifty pairs of certified partridges ready for the moment of hatching.
The last and decisive appointment is scheduled in exactly six days, Sunday 10 April. The final stage is that of Civita Castellana: there is no two without three, but in this case Federcaccia hopes that "there is no three without four": as established by the organizers, the meeting is set at 6 at the “Aquila” Bar on the Via Flaminia (Casale Ettorre locality). The prizes will be equally rich and assigned to a number of classified that will be established by the rules posted at the beginning of the day.
