The FIDC president Massimo Buconi he turned to Italian Red Cross to ask for an intervention regarding the use of the Association logo in a negative comment against a hunter recently appeared on Facebook. Below is the text of the letter sent to the President and Secretary General of the CRI: Dear President, I was pointed out by several of our members, and raised an understandable rage within the hunting world, the comment on a news posted on its Facebook page by the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Umbria, relating to the rescue intervention brought to a hunter in an inaccessible area of the region and despite the efforts made by the rescuers, unfortunately ended with the subsequent death for the injured person, to whose family all our sincere solidarity goes.
In the light of what has occurred, a comment that already stood out among others of a similar negative tenor - to which we are unfortunately accustomed given the climate of widespread and illogical ostracism to our activity - is even more strident because the author has the logo of the Italian Red Cross as a profile picture, as you can personally verify on the screen shots that I attach to this mine. We do not know - and frankly it is of little importance - if Mr. Paolo Sabbatini is a volunteer, an employee or is in some other way linked to your Association, but he certainly uses the CRI logo. improper use and that certainly does not honor the daily commitment of men and women who, with your uniform, stand alongside citizens and those in need of help.
A commendable work, put to the test even more in this pandemic period, than it is well known and that it has received maximum appreciation within the hunting world. To the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, which constitute its spirit and ethics - that is Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality - it seems to us that that comment can present very little correspondence and which are the personal and legitimate opinions of Mr. Sabbatinthe never, never should be a discriminating factor, especially in his work with the colors of the Red Cross. We therefore ask you to intervene as far as you can to clarify this unfortunate fact, however a sense of fairness towards the protagonists and the very good name of the Association that you preside and that for other reasons deserves to be the protagonist on social networks.
