Il Pass of the Brocon it is known above all as the alpine pass of the Trentino Alto Adige which connects the Vanoi Valley with the Tesino Plateau. In addition, it is very important for the monitoring station of migratory birds that it deals with capturing and ringing birds. The latest update a few days ago highlighted a spectacular day, to say the least, with eloquent numbers. In fact, the birds that have been ringed have exceeded altitude 200 and there was no shortage of species such as the short-eared owl and the hen harrier.
The night hours were especially decisive for the capture of 60 robins, followed by larks, song thrushes, blackbirds, dwarf owls, two common owls and two woodcocks. Among other things, it has been possible to see a substantial step in terms of that too the finches, the siskin and the frosoni, without forgetting the capture of the tenth kestrel and the sixth black woodpecker.
It wasn't just a day full of passerines anyway, given that the migrating birds of prey (first of all the sparrow hawk and the marsh harrier) embellished the day. Even a griffon vulture managed to pass within ten meters of the nets towards the end of the morning.
