Below is the letter of Paul Sparvoli, president ofNational Free Hunting Association: "Dear hunters friends, this 2021, still tormented by this cursed pandemic with grief, suffering and very serious economic hardships which is causing us all, is ending with yet another defeat of the usual irreducible enemies of hunting. The patched-up and impromptu group, which just to show off, practically asked for the abolition of the current legislation on fauna and hunting activities, was soundly rejected, first by the great and historic animal rights groups that immediately dissociated themselves from the initiative and then, from Supreme Court which canceled nearly 180.000 of the just over 500.000 signatures collected.
But beware, this further defeat of the Taliban of animalism cannot and must not make us let our guard down since already a new ideological offensive is planned for 2023 - and only ideological - against us and against our millenary activity. But now we are going hunting, despite the countless animal rights attempts to reduce the already few days and with the ups and downs that nature has always reserved for us and that we hunters are used to dealing with great responsibility, committing ourselves to daily monitoring the environmental conditions, in the surveillance against forest fires, in the restoration of habitats and in the foraging of wildlife in times of difficulty.
Let's enjoy our short season of activity and get ready for spend the long months that separate us from a new opening in our usual environmental tasks starting with the long and tiring censuses that the so-called animal rights activists are careful not to do. Now, after this very brief chat, I sincerely wish you, also on behalf of the entire Executive Committee and the various Colleges, to spend the Christmas Holidays and New Year in the serenity of your families and - restrictions permitting - even in the company of your closest friends. Many, sincere and affectionate wishes to everyone and a very cordial ... Good luck ".
