The association Enalhunt organized three evenings of lectures ad Arezzo to train national canine judges for tests intended for pointing and hunting dogs. These are lessons that will also serve as an update for those who have already achieved the qualification you are talking about. The days scheduled are those of Wednesday 30 March, Monday 4 April and Wednesday 6 April, while the time will always be the same, ie from 20: 45 to 23 at the provincial headquarters. What is a dog judge employed in the Enalcaccia competitions called to do? For the purposes of the rankings of each category, the style of the breed and the hunting skills of the animal must be examined with the utmost attention: the reference can only go, therefore, to the search, to work with the possible companion with whom he is in a couple, the connection with the conductor, the point-taking, the stop and the consent.
The categories "Free English" and "Free Continental" they also require the obligation of correctness when whirling: this means that the dog cannot be tied in any case. Then there is the "Young English" category, which requires the dog to be tied and guided with a slow leash, consequently the Enalacaccia dog judge will try to understand if the animal is strong or not. Always what concerns the latter category, the correctness of the whisk will be considered a note of merit.
The judgment to be expressed in the Enalcaccia “Hunters” category is also fundamental: the correctness or not in the whisk they are considered neither a note of merit nor of demerit. In this case the dog can be tied up when it has to stop, furthermore, the elimination takes place in the hypothesis of the dog that explodes after a minute or of a subject that bites (exclusion of hunting dogs). During the course it will also be taught that a dog that does not return within the time of two minutes at the invitation of the handler or at the request of the dog judge must be eliminated.
There is a very precise scoring system for such tests. In detail, the qualifications of "Excellent" and "Very Good" are assigned to the dogs in the ranking for each single category. During each test five points are awarded to each current simply for participating in the same: the dog can also be brought on trial by different handlers and the assignment of scores depends on the unquestionable judgment of the judge, therefore protests are not allowed if you do not want to risk a disqualification and expulsion from the field.
