La Federcaccia of Piedmont commented on the decision to suspend hunting until 30th November in regional alpine areas in which the recent and devastating fires have occurred. Furthermore, until 10 November, hunters from other districts (Turin 2 and Turin 4) and Territorial Areas of Hunting Turin 1, 2 and 3 they will not be able to use their rifles: the declared objective of the regional council is to protect the local fauna. The terms can however be revoked or extended and according to the hunting association the decision was too late and excessive, as well as being a pretext, as usual a consequence of the emotional thrust of public opinion.
An intervention of this type can be compared to closing the barn when the oxen have already left. Furthermore, it was considered absurd to block hunting in areas that are kilometers and kilometers away from the fires. Moreover, the laws to protect the burning woods already exist and such drastic measures, as well as lacking scientific support, make no sense. Federcaccia Piemonte wonders how it can be explained to farmers for a month wild boar and roe deer will be able to "circulate" freely and devastate the fields and crops.
The association is making men and resources available to solve the emergency, but it is also close to the agricultural world. The hope is to plant an entire forest to be dedicated to those who have faced the fires (many of them were just hunters). The accusations made in recent days to the hunting world have been judged idiotic, finally the note from the Piedmontese Federcaccia ended with a thought addressed to the politicians: "It was the umpteenth ... nice thought of the usual incompetents!".
